At Isuzu, that’s the only kind of truck we sell.

Our engines are legendary for their power, economy and long life. Our frames accommodate a wide range of body applications. Our low-cab-forward design provides remarkable maneuverability. Isuzu trucks are engineered to maximize driver productivity.

Now, more than ever, these are the trucks that drive up your productivity while driving down your cost of ownership.

All New Isuzu Reach Van

“New” can be an over-used term [remember “New Coke”?]…but in the case of the new Reach™, it truly is a new vehicle that has the potential to revolutionize the commercial truck field. What makes it special is the way it’s designed – withyour customers’ needs in mind! We surveyed customers to discover what they wanted. Here is their response:

• A vehicle that improves productivity and driver safety
• One with exceptional durability, serviceability and repairability
• A truck that delivers superior fuel economy while reducing the carbon footprint

To accomplish those goals, Isuzu set out to find a strategic partner who could help in the design and manufacturing of a vehicle that would push the envelope – that partner turned out to be Utilimaster Corporation. The end result is Reach™. It is the right truck at the right time that meets the needs of today’s truck buyers and operators. Utilimaster’s body sits atop a rugged Isuzu NPR ECO-MAX chassis and is powered by Isuzu’s 3.0-liter diesel engine. Together, this engineering feat by Isuzu and Utilimaster achieves 35% better fuel economy than a traditional walk-in van while offering the functionality of a custom-built commercial truck. “The Reach™ is the ideal walk-in van for today’s market because its Isuzu powertrain offers incredible fuel efficiency and proven durability, and its frame, suspension, steering and braking systems are true commercial grade, not just beefed-up passenger van components,” said Shaun Skinner, executive vice president and general manager of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America. “Plus, today’s fleet and vocational buyers are looking for low cost of ownership, and the Reach™ lives up to its name – it reaches a new standard in low cost of ownership that no other commercial van can match.”

Isuzu tough under the skin

Reach™ starts with a 12,000-lb. GVWR Isuzu NPR ECO-MAX chassis – the engine has been relocated to minimize engine protrusion in the cab, which improves driver movement in and out of the front seat. Plus, the driver seat position and other component locations have been revised to accommodate the walk-in van body. Isuzu’s biodiesel (B20) compatible 4J 3.0-liter turbocharged engine delivers 150 horsepower and comes mated to an Aisin medium-duty 6-speed automatic transmission with double overdrive, lock-up torque converter and power takeoff (PTO) function.

• Independent testing showed this powertrain achieved 35% better fuel economy than traditional commercial vans
• Class-leading B10 durability rating of 310,000 miles means that 90% will reach that mileage before requiring an overhaul
• To reduce emissions, the 4JJ1-TC engine employs selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, which injects Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) into the hot exhaust stream to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by over 85%

More than just a pretty face

The Reach™ is 11% more aerodynamic than comparable vehicles. This improves fuel efficiency with the latest design construction that reduces interior noise. Check out these specs:

• Reach™ is offered in two wheelbases: 134 and 151 inches
• There are three body lengths: 10, 12 and 14 feet
• Reach™ offers 450, 540 or 630 cubic feet of storage, depending on wheelbase and body length selected
• Interior is up to 27 inches higher than a conventional Ford or GM van and 10 inches wider than a Sprinter van

Features

Check out the features of the new Reach™:

• Sliding front doors and easy entry and egress will help increase drivers’ productivity. An optional swing-out front door will also be available in the near future
• 50% wider aisle than competitive vans
• Sufficient interior height to give drivers over six feet tall the ability to enter and exit the cab, and access and use the cargo area, in an upright position
• Available integrated back-up camera
• Available keyless, auto-opening bulkhead door
• Easy-to-access maintenance items

In addition, choices of integrated vocational modules give buyers the opportunity to turn the cargo area into a space customized to their needs. To achieve maximum durability, Reach’s™ body employs:

• Impact-resistant urethane rear and lower exterior panels
• Rear spring bumper and energy-absorbing side bumpers
• One-piece molded roof to eliminate leaks
• All body panels are designed for quick removal and replacement so if repairs are necessary, the vehicle is easily and quickly restored to its original condition

The all-new Reach™ – production starts in May.*

NPR ECO-MAX

The newest member of the N-Series family offers the features drivers expect from an Isuzu truck. With its new 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine, the 12,000-lb. GVWR NPR ECO-MAX gets up to 20% better fuel economy than its predecessor.

Isuzu 4JJ1-TC 3.0-liter diesel engine

Standard on the 2011 NPR ECO-MAX is the newest engine in the Isuzu family—the 4JJ1-TC.

Its high-pressure common-rail fuel injection system wrings the most energy out of every drop of fuel, and its intercooled, variable-geometry turbocharger provides excellent response over the engine’s entire RPM range. Together, these features help the 4JJ1-TC produce 150 horsepower and 282 lbs.-ft. of torque.

Despite its spirited performance, this engine is a miser. In fact, the NPR ECO-MAX achieves up to 20% better fuel economy than the previous 12,000-lb. GVWR NPR.

Like every Isuzu powerplant, the 4JJ1-TC is a true commercial vehicle engine. Each component has been crafted to reduce maintenance and increase durability.

So it’s no surprise that the 4JJ1-TC can be driven up to 10,000 miles between oil changes and has a class-leading B10 durability rating of 310,000 miles—meaning that 90% of 4JJ1-TC engines will reach that mileage before requiring an overhaul.
